December is a powerful time for this immersion: a moment to cleanse and renew body, mind and soul, so that you can begin the new year feeling refreshed and grounded on your path of truth. A time to reflect on the months that have passed, release what is no longer needed, close the cycle and make space for what wants to emerge next in your life.

9 days immersed in ancestral wisdom, nature and ceremonial practices, guided by representatives of the Kamëntsá tradition and holder of the ancestral wisdom of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, with Yagé ceremonies, sacred Ikaros and personal healing accompaniment.

AN INITIATORY JOURNEY BACK TO WHAT MATTERS

There are times when we need to step away from the noise of everyday life.
To slow down.
To listen.
To reconnect with ourselves, our intuition, our body, nature and what truly matters.

Travel to Source is an invitation to return to a more natural rhythm.

For nine days, we will gather in the Putumayo region of Colombia, surrounded by the Amazon rainforest and welcomed on the ancestral territory of the Kamëntsá Indigenous people.

This is not a luxury retreat. The experience is intentionally simple, intimate and close to nature.

It is an initiatory journey of deep healing, ceremony, connection, personal exploration and integration — experienced within a traditional environment, on the land where Yagé grows, and supported throughout the entire process.

AT THE ROOT OF YAGÉ

I will take you to the territory of Putumayo, in the region of Mocoa, which I have been exploring since 2017 through my journeys of ancestral wisdom and study.

Here, surrounded by the living territory where many of the plants used in traditional Amazonian medicine grow, we will stay in the ceremonial house of Maima Concha, of the Kamëntsá people.

Maima Concha inherited the knowledge and practice of Yagé through her family lineage. This knowledge has been transmitted through generations and is deeply rooted in the relationship between plants, territory, community and the spiritual world.

Yagé is an ancestral medicine and a sacred teaching spirit within the traditions of several Indigenous peoples of the Amazon. In this context, working with Yagé is not simply about drinking a plant preparation. It is about entering into a relationship with a living tradition, with the territory and with the knowledge that has been carried through generations.

All the indigenous Yagé masters I have met say the same about Yagé, it is made to consent Life. To help you grow within a wider understanding of yourself, the physical and unphysical realms.

Putumayo is a territory deeply connected to these ancestral traditions. It is home to several Indigenous peoples, including the Kamëntsá, Inga, Cofán, Siona and Koreguaje, each with their own traditions, languages and ways of relating to Yagé.

During this retreat, we will have the opportunity to experience Yagé within this ancestral and cultural context, with respect for the tradition and the territory from which this knowledge comes.

FROM THE LUNGS OF THE EARTH TO THE HEART OF THE WORLD

This immersion takes place in Putumayo, in the Colombian Amazon, a territory of extraordinary biodiversity and rich ancestral traditions.

Here, the forest is regarded as a living being. It is sacred territory.

My own journey in Colombia is also deeply connected to another sacred territory: the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, where I live and where, over the past 10 years, I have developed relationships with Mamos as well as with the Indigenous peoples who are guardians of the Heart of the World: the Arhuaco, Wiwa, Kankuamo and Kogi First Nations.

This retreat creates a meeting point between these two territories.

Yagé ceremonies and traditional work in Putumayo belong to the Kamëntsá tradition and are guided by the Maima and Taita who carry these teachings.

At the same time, I bring elements from my own path and experience in the Sierra Nevada into the preparation, accompaniment and integration of the journey.

The intention is not to merge traditions, but to allow different paths of ancestral knowledge to meet with respect, each remaining rooted in its own territory and lineage. Each ancestral wisdom is an expression of the Source, and the Source is the same for all.

THREE YAGÉ CEREMONIES

Throughout the retreat, we will experience three Yagé ceremonies, each held within the traditional ceremonial setting and guided by Maima Concha.

The ceremonies are part of a larger process. Preparation before the ceremony, the experience itself, and integration afterwards are all important parts of the journey.

You will be invited to approach each ceremony with your own intention, while remaining open to what may arise naturally through the process.

UNDERSTANDING YAGÉ
A Sacred Tradition of the Colombian Amazon

In Putumayo, this ancestral medicine is known as Yagé. For thousands of years, Indigenous peoples of the Amazon have passed it down and worked with it as part of their community, cultural and spiritual traditions.

Within these traditions, Yagé is not regarded as a substance used to have an experience. It is understood as an ancestral medicine and a teaching spirit.

Yagé offers a way of understanding the world, our place within it and our relationship with the living physical world and the invisible. It is understood within these traditions as a connection with the divine and can support a process of self-knowledge, purification and inner transformation. Yagé is made to consent Life.

The way Yagé is prepared, transmitted and practiced varies between peoples, territories and traditions. There is therefore no single way of understanding or working with Yagé throughout the Amazon.

However, there is a common thread that connects these traditions at their core; only the form may differ to some extent.

A TRADITION PASSED DOWN THROUGH GENERATIONS

Working with Yagé takes place within a specific traditional framework, based on knowledge passed down through generations and deeply connected to the territory and the community.

Ceremonies are guided by people who have received these teachings within their own tradition and who carry the responsibility of transmitting them.

This retreat takes place on Kamëntsá territory in Putumayo. The ceremonies are guided by Maima Concha and her family, in accordance with their tradition and their way of working with Yagé.

We come as guests on this territory.

We come to listen, learn and receive, with respect and humility, without seeking to impose our own way of understanding or practicing this tradition.

The intention is to discover this medicine within its cultural and ancestral context, while respecting the people who carry and transmit it, their territory and their way of working.

MY OWN RELATIONSHIP WITH YAGÉ

My relationship with Yagé began more than 20 years ago.

Over the years, Yagé has been an important part of my own journey of learning, questioning, transformation and relationship with the ancestral traditions of Colombia, Perou and Brasil.

For the past 15 years, I have been organizing and accompanying ceremonial journeys, creating spaces where people from different countries can approach these experiences with preparation, respect and awareness.

This long relationship has taught me something simple:

The ceremony starts after the ceremony.

What happens before entering the maloca matters.

The way we arrive matters.

The way we move through the experience matters.

And what we do afterwards with what we have received matters just as much.

This is why preparation, support and integration are at the heart of Travel to Source.

A RELATIONSHIP, NOT A PROMISE

I do not promise you a particular experience.

I do not promise healing, transformation or revelation.

Yagé cannot be reduced to a predictable outcome.

Each person’s experience is different.

You may encounter beauty, difficulty, memories, emotions, questions or simply silence. And sometimes all of these may arise within a single ceremony.

The intention is to create the conditions that allow you to enter the experience safe: prepared, informed, respectful and aware, and to be supported throughout the process.

What emerges belongs to your own path.

THREE CEREMONIES, ONE JOURNEY

During the retreat, there will be three Yagé ceremonies with Maima Concha, held within the traditional framework of the Kamëntsá territory.

Maima Concha holds the traditional authority of the Yagé ceremonies and determines, according to her own practice and discernment, whether and how Yagé is given to each participant.

Alongside this traditional ceremonial work, I will sing the Ikaros and offer my own deep healing work and personal accompaniment throughout the journey.

Between ceremonies, there will be time for rest, reflection, walks, sharing, individual support and integration.

Because the retreat is not only about what happens during the ceremony.

It is about the entire journey:

My relationship with Yagé began more than 20 years ago.

For the past 15 years, I have been organizing and accompanying ceremonial journeys, creating spaces that allow people to enter these experiences with preparation, respect and appropriate support.

I live in Colombia, in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, where my own path has led me to develop long-standing relationships with Mamos and with the ancestral knowledge of this territory.
I am not the person who holds the traditional authority of the Kamëntsá Yagé tradition.

My role is different. I prepare you, accompany you and support you throughout the entire journey.

During the retreat, I will also bring my own medicine and healing practice through the Ikaros — sacred songs that I have been working with as an integral part of my path.

I will sing the Ikaros during the ceremonial process and offer a space for deep healing work, supporting participants as they explore emotional patterns, wounds, memories and what may arise during the journey.

The Ikaros are at the heart of my own way of working. Through sound, voice, presence and deep listening, I create a space where each person can encounter what is ready to be seen, felt and released.

This work is complementary to the traditional Yagé ceremonies guided by Maima Concha. The two roles remain distinct and rooted in their respective paths and traditions.
I will be with you throughout the entire journey — from the first preparation to your return home.

Maima Concha welcomes us onto her territory and shares the ancestral knowledge and ceremonial traditions of her lineage.

Our time with her offers the opportunity to discover Putumayo not simply as visitors, but through a closer relationship with the land, the traditions and the people who belong to it.

She will guide the three Yagé ceremonies.

The ceremonial relationship with Yagé remains rooted in her traditional practice and authority.

Mama Concha, yagécera and curandera from the Kamentsa community of Sibundoy, practices healing with ancestral yagé medicine and medicinal plants from the Amazon. Her parents were Maima and Taita, and she has been drinking medicine since childhood and giving it for many years.

Now based in the Kamentsa reserve of Mocoa, where she has her maloca, or yagé ceremonial house, Mama Concha is sought after for her gift of healing with plants. Her treatments for the uterus, prostate, and many other ailments are renowned in the healing community of Putumayo and beyond Colombia's borders. As Mama Concha says, "it is possible to heal everything with faith." Mama Concha offers profound healing medicine for the body, mind and spirit.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE

TREE YAGÉ CEREMONIES

Three ceremonial nights held within the Kamëntsá tradition and guided by Maima Concha.

The ceremonies are approached with respect for the tradition, the territory and each participant’s individual journey.

My role is to support participants before, during and after the ceremonial work.

CACAO CEREMONY

A shared ceremonial experience centered around cacao, connection and presence.

A moment to come together, open the heart and create a space of preparation for the deeper ceremonies.

ANCESTRAL WALK IN NATURE

We will walk through the surrounding territory, following ancestral paths towards the waterfalls.

A time to slow down, reconnect with the elements and spend time in direct relationship with the lush nature around us, allowing ourselves to receive its wisdom.

NINE DAYS ON THE TERRITORY

This retreat is intentionally intimate.

With a maximum of six participants, there is space to respect the rhythm of the territory, offer personal attention and support each participant’s individual process.

Rather than creating a strictly scheduled itinerary, we leave space for each experience to unfold.

ARRIVAL

Arriving in Putumayo, settling into the space and meeting the people who will accompany the journey.

ENTERING THE PROCESS

Taking time to settle physically and emotionally, become familiar with the territory and prepare for the ceremonial journey ahead.

CONNECTION

Beginning to slow down, connect with the territory and enter the rhythm of the retreat.

CEREMONY

Experiencing the three Yagé ceremonies within the Kamëntsá traditional framework, according to Maima Concha’s traditional practice and discernment. Before beginning this work, a cacao ceremony will open the journey.

TRANSMISSION

Discovering certain practices and perspectives connected to my own path in the Sierra Nevada, such as individual consultations. Guided meditations and vision-sharing circles will also take place regularly.

PERSONAL SUPPORT

Meeting Maima Concha and her family and receiving individual attention throughout the journey from both Maima and Clara Sofia Velocina.

NATURE

Walking through the Amazonian landscape, discovering waterfalls and spending time in direct relationship with nature.

REST & REFLECTION

Between ceremonies, there will be space to rest, integrate, write, walk, share and simply be.

INTEGRATION

Beginning to make sense of what has emerged during the initiatory journey and exploring how it can be integrated into everyday life.

CLOSING

Coming together, sharing and preparing to return home with greater clarity about what you wish to continue and carry with you.

INTEGRATION

The Journey Continues After the Retreat

An experience of this depth does not end when you leave Putumayo.

Integration begins before the retreat and continues after you return home.

Preparation, ceremony, reflection and integration are not separate stages. They are part of one continuous journey.

During the retreat, we will create spaces to rest, reflect, integrate and share.

After you return home, I will offer integration support, allowing you to revisit your experience, ask questions and explore how to integrate what you have learned into your everyday life.

The intention is not to hold on to the intensity of the retreat.

It is to discover what you will carry with you.

A SIMPLE AND AUTHENTIC STAY

During the retreat, we will stay with Maima Concha, in her traditional wooden home next to the maloca.

The accommodation is intentionally simple and communal.

You will sleep on mattresses placed on the floor, surrounded by the sounds and rhythms of the Amazon.

This is not a luxury hotel experience.

There may be insects, natural sounds, simple facilities and the realities of living close to the territory.

If you are looking for comfort and luxury accommodation, this retreat may not be for you.

If you are looking for connection, simplicity, intimacy and an experience rooted in the territory, you may feel at home here.

We will have an individual conversation to answer your questions and talk about the retreat, the living conditions and your expectations.

4. PREPARATION

You will begin your personal preparation process and receive all the practical information needed for your journey.

5. PUTUMAYO

We meet on the territory and begin our nine-day journey together.

The process continues after you return home through integration support.

BEFORE JOINING US

Preparation, Safety and Personal Responsibility

A ceremonial journey with Yagé requires preparation, respect and personal responsibility.

It is not an experience to be approached lightly or simply as a form of tourism.

Before confirming your place, we will have an individual conversation to understand your intentions, answer your questions and make sure you understand the nature of the journey and the conditions in which it takes place.

Participation in the ceremonial work is not automatic.

Maima Concha retains the authority to determine, according to her own traditional practice and discernment, whether and how Yagé is given to each participant.

You will be asked to honestly disclose any health condition, medication or other relevant circumstance that may be important for your participation.

My role is to prepare and accompany you throughout the journey.

If there is any doubt about a participant’s condition and whether they can receive the medicine, I share the relevant information about the participant with Maima Concha, who gives me her confirmation for their participation.

WHO IS THIS RETREAT NOT FOR?

This retreat may not be suitable for everyone.

Yagé can lead to intense physical, emotional and psychological experiences, and participation involves personal responsibility.

This journey is not intended for people looking for a recreational or purely tourist experience, nor for those expecting a guaranteed healing or transformation outcome.

If you are currently taking medication, have a medical or psychiatric condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are in any other situation that could affect your participation, you must disclose this during the application process so that Maima Concha and I can determine whether you can receive the medicine.

The information you provide allows us to understand your situation and helps you make an informed decision.

When in doubt, safety comes first.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need previous experience with Yagé?

No previous experience is required. What matters most is preparation, respect for the traditions, openness and personal responsibility.

Is participation in all three Yagé ceremonies guaranteed?

No.

The ceremonial work remains under the traditional authority of Maima Concha. She determines whether and how Yagé is given to each participant, according to her own traditional practice and discernment.

Will I be staying in a hotel?

No. The accommodation is simple and communal, in Maima Concha’s traditional wooden home next to the maloca. You will sleep on mattresses placed on the floor.

How many people will participate?

The retreat is limited to a maximum of 6 participants.

Are flights included?

No. International flights and transportation to Putumayo are not included.

Can I come on my own?

Yes. You do not need to know anyone else in the group.

What should I bring?

You will receive a complete preparation and packing guide before the retreat.

What is the integration process?

Integration begins during the retreat, through periods of rest, reflection, sharing and personal support.

After the retreat, you will also have access to integration support to reflect on your experience and explore how to integrate what you have learned into your everyday life.

Are additional treatments included?

No. Additional massages, consultations or individual services are offered separately, subject to availability.

How do I reserve my place?

Because this is a small-group experience, participation begins with an application.
